Marian Young

‘A Sense of Place.’

I primarily work in Acrylics on unframed canvasses; though often introduce other media, eg: charcoal, pen & markers.

I approach each blank canvas with no pre conceived ideas of the outcome. I make no preliminary sketches, nor do I work from photographs. I merely lay down the colours of my choice that day & allow the flow & direction of paint to intuitively lead me to that ‘Sense of Place’ that I am subconsciously driven to; which at the present time is concerned with land & seascapes.

I know that the work is complete – when I have achieved a sense of unity, balance & cohesion.
